Mommy Advice Needed

I need some serious mommy advice from all my mommy friends out there!!!!!

I need to know how hard it is to travel with a 4-6 week old baby.
I don't even know what questions to ask but here goes... How are they in the plane? How do you stop their little ears from popping? How much stuff do they need to take on a week long trip? Will he pretty much sleep the whole time on the plane and most likely the whole trip?

Here's the deal. Josh WON a cruse!!! Airfare INCLUDED! And I wouldn't even consider doing this if it weren't for a friend of mine telling me that her sister had the same thing happen, they won a cruse (I think they won it), but just had a baby a little over a month before the cruse date and they still went on it and she said her baby did just fine. Her baby just ate and slept, no big deal.

Is this crazy that I'm considering this?!? SO much to worry about. My mom said that we should totally go. But really, am I crazy? I mean of course I will talk to the Dr and ask if me and the baby are healthy enough for something like this. What do you think?

A Great Man

This morning my grandfather passed away. This is my mother's father (she has had a tough year). He was 87 and we will miss him so much, but we are happy that he can finally rest. He's had a great, full life. He has also had a lot of health issues these last few years, so I'm happy that he is out of pain and confusion.

This is the most recent picture I have of him (July 2007). Dancing at my wedding with my mom.

I'm not sure that date of this picture but it's my grandpa with my grandma I think before they were married. I love old photos like this one, aren't they cute!?! =)

And here they are again all grown up with 4 kids and 5 grandchildren at the time this picture was taken. This November my grandmother will have passed away 16 years ago, I'm so happy that they can be together again.

Robert P. Hage was a great man, a loving husband, amazing father, and the best grandpa. I love him so much and look forward to seeing him again some day. I have such sweet and simple childhood memories of him and my grandma. I'm so grateful to know him and call him family. I wish I was better with words because I'm not doing this man justice. He was truly a gentlemen, in all meanings of the word.

I love you

Summer Project

This was my summer project. Yes, I said "summer" because it did in fact take me that long and I'm not even done! I am NOT the fastest scrapbooker in the whole world and I do get burnt out if I do too much in one day. So with my mom's help, this is where we are so far. It's not done yet. It's a little plain in places, it needs some more embellishments. Plus I still need a few pages (family, wedding party, and a whole page just for me and my maid of honor) and then it will be done. By the time I get this all done, I will have a new book to work on, the BABY BOOK! =) I have already gotten the album and paper, all I need is the baby and some pictures! hee hee

Interesting fact about bottled water

I was reading an artical about bottled water today and came accross a very interesting fact...

The U.S. on average produces 70 MILLION empty water bottles each day

About 86% of those water bottles end up in the TRASH!

That makes me so sad! Recycling is SO EASY! It takes just a few extra seconds a day (maybe a few minutes depending on how much waste a person produces). How lazy can people get, COME ON! I'm BIG on recycling, don't get me started on plastic bags. As silly as it may sound to some people, I really believe that Heavenly Father will hold us accountable for the things we do to mess up the beautiful earth we have been given and if we did our part.

I love to cook

I have to admit that I have been sneaking over to my parents house and watching Food Network! I LOVE Food Network! I could seriously watch it for hours! When I go over to my parents house my Mom knows to check and see what is on. We don't have a dish so we don't get that channel, but when we move next month, Josh has promised me that we will get one! YAY! My 2 favorite shows are Everyday Italian and Paul's Home Cooking!

So for our family Labor Day BBQ slash Josh's Aunt Selene's Birthday, I decided to try 2 new recipes that I got from Paul Dean's show a few days ago. Let me tell you, they were a HIT! I felt like ROCKSTAR they way everyone was asking "who brought these, who made this?" See I LOVE to cook, BUT I'm very sensitive about my cooking. I try so hard and really put my heart into what I'm cooking and when it doesn't turn out right, I'm so hard on my self and so sad. Then I don't end up trying to cook again for a while. It's so so silly, I know, it's something that I'm trying to get over. =)
Here's what I made...

Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies

Santa Fe Wraps

It's such a great feeling to come home with an empty platter!

For these recipes, go to foodnetwork.com or just ask me, they were a hit with my family!

My Baby

I LOVE to spoil my husband (and so does he)! =)
I found this little pan at a kitchen store. It was $7 and just the right size to hold one egg, so I thought I would give it a try. Josh loves the McMuffins, so I thought "I can do that." Well, they turned out AMAZING! Josh LOVED my breakfast bagel! Has asks for it at least 3 times a week! And it's SO easy...
Make sure you spray your pan with Pam even thought it's a nonstick, I scramble 1 egg in a cup with salt, pepper and a little splash of milk. .

The key I have found is to not touch the eggs when they are cooking, don't be tempted to scramble them. If you just let them cook on a med to med low temp on each side, they turn out way fluffier, like a mini omelet. I find if I the pan is too hot the eggs get over cooked on the bottom and not cooked enough in the middle so it makes it almost impossible to flip them.

While the eggs are cooking (they do take longer when cooking them on a low setting), I toast a bagel, throw some cheese on the top layer right when it gets out of the toaster to melt the cheese, I put a little butter on the bottom half of the bagel so it's not so dry, then I put a few slices of ham lunch meat on the bottom (if you have bacon that would be awesome!)

And there you go! You're going to LOVE them! McDonalds ant got nothin on me! =)
