Vitamin D

Jacob and I got a good healthy dose of Vitamin D today.
It's a BEAUTIFUL day in WA, chilly 47 degrees but sunny.
Jacob seemed to love being outside.
He would hardly look at me for pictures because he was too in awe
of the outside world.
I love showing him new things and watching
as he takes it in and learns something new.
I wish I knew more about photography
because I want to take great pictures of him so I can remember
every little detail about my sweet little baby and because I can't
afford a photographer, but even if I could
they still wouldn't be here everyday so they would miss some of the
amazing things this little guy does.
So I really need to learn more.
I love how outdoor lighting creates a "sharper" photo
(I don't know the photography word for it)
I just love this little guy so much!

I wish my son took a pacifier

I'm getting a little frustrated because the only way Jacob will fall asleep is my sucking himself to sleep and since he won't take a pacifier that means nursing. Im starting to get really frustrated. If only he would take a pacifier, then he could suck himself to sleep without me. But no. There has to be another way =(

A day in the life of Jacob

Well half of the day
From Jacob's perspective

First of all I wake up, get my diaper changed and get some breakfast. I love me some mommy milk! She said that I couldn't show you a picture of that although I wouldn't of minded.

Then it's tummy time after a good burp and a bath. (I didn't have fun in the bath today so mommy didn't take pictures.)

I decided tummy time isn't for me and I'd rather suck on my hand

So mommy thought she would get me back by taking pictures of the thunder thighs. I'm chubby and I like it!

So to get mommy back for taking pictures of my chubbs I decided not to smile for her even though she tickled me and made funny faces and noises.

Then I was a nice little helper by holding up my shirt to help mommy change my stinky diaper. (it's my new trick)

Since I was already practically naked anyway, mommy got a great idea to set up some glamor shots by taking my shirt all the way off and setting up a black back drop (aka all of Daddy and mommy's black shirts). She can be so scrappy!

I like to be naked!

That's right... I'm cute!

I was getting fussy so mommy tried to keep me happy by giving me a toy to play with, but it wasn't enough and I was done being a baby model right after this picture.

So mommy gave me some lunch and that put me right to sleep.

Caught on tape

We finally caught Jacob laughing on video! We have been trying everyday since we first heard him. It's truly my favorite sound in the whole world. We couldn't get a better camera angle because when he sees the camera he stops =)

Valentine's Day and a birthday

This is by bestie Rachel! She's amazing! It was her birthday on Sunday so we made homemade candles at Waxen Art at Kent Station and then we FINALLY saw TWILIGHT!!! (It's still playing at the theater by Ikea in Renton which is now a $3 theater! I'm all about that!) I LOVED it! Of course a few minor details were off and some parts of the book were left out, that's to be expected. It was pretty much exactly as I pictured things to be as I was reading. I'm SOOOO excited because according to www.imdb.com New Moon will be in theaters November 20th 2009!!! YAY!

Only a homemade card with love will do for my Rachel! (We have the same middle name too, funny huh?)

Homemade Chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels for my sweetie and a few for some friends

My first attempt at steak for Valentine's dinner. It turned out pretty good I think. I got inspired from this SUPER WOMAN check out her website http://thepioneerwoman.com/ she is amazing at EVERYTHING! I LOVE the way she writes too! She's very funny and very personable.

All I do is brag... sorry! =)

Jacob Jacob Jacob! Oh how I love him!
This is my new favorite picture

He still hates tummy time (he screams like a little girl and has a temper tantrum) but he is getting really strong so I think it's really important to still do it. He's getting his head up so high! He's finally leaning how to bear his weight up on his arms.

3 Months

3 Months
(we tried so hard to get him to smile, but no luck. He's going through his first cold right now so I think that's why he wasn't feelin it.)

2 Months

1 Month

2 weeks

Weight: about 17 pounds
Hair color: still has the red mullet but all the rest of the red has fallen out and he is now blonde
Eye color: still kinda gray but sometimes looks blue

New things this months:

Jacob will now grab things that are placed on him like a toy and bring it to his mouth.
Loves to be naked, he used to hate it.
He wont take a pacifier still but he loves to suck on his fists and this month he has figured out how to just suck on a few fingers and he will gag himself.
He will watch TV, we think he likes the colors.
He now sleeps in his crib full time 3-6 hours at a time during the night.
We have started to read children's books to him and he likes the pictures but he usually gets bored before the end.
Started spitting up, for 2 months I NEVER needed to wear a burp cloth but I do now.
Jacob started laughing a real belly laugh. We try to hard everyday to make him laugh.
He has really attached himself to a little stuffed bug that goes on his swing, it's a favorite toy. He talks to him, laughs at him and wiggles for him, it's so cute.
He now falls asleep in his swing after about 5-10 minutes, most of the time.
He wearing size 3 diapers and some 3-6 months clothes BUT some 6-9 month clothes fit too!!!
He now gets tears when he's really upset.
We discovered that Balmex diaper rash cream is the best for his bottom, but he really doesn't get diaper rash that often.
He will smile and talk to himself in the mirror, it's SO CUTE!
Sometimes he will cry at a stranger when they are in his face, but he will warm up and be cute and friendly after a few minutes. He doesn't always do it, but sometimes.
Most of his red hair is gone except for the mullet, now he's blonde.
Twice he has taken my glasses off.
He will try to copy sounds you make and your expressions.
He's trying to roll over but hasn't quite got it yet, but he's getting really close.
He got his first cold. It started yesterday. I think it's those primary kids honestly, but oh well. Poor baby. He's sleeping a lot and eating really well, just a little flemy and has a little cough. No fever so it could be a lot worse.

Because I don't want to forget any of the little things

You have the LONGEST eye lashes (why do men always get the long eyelashes?) It's hard to see them because they are so blonde.

You love your bath and now you have started kicking and splashing all over me. You are now too big for the sling thing that came with the tub.

For such a little person, you require a lot of stuff. (Balmex is the best diaper rash cream although you really don't get it that often) I figure that once you are a daddy all the labels and baby products will have changed and all this will seem "old school."

You like to watch TV already. We were watching What Not To Wear hee hee (Like the mullet?)

You have started to fall asleep in your swing. I put the blanket over it to make it darker for you.

You got your head up pretty high this month. I'm so proud.

This is how much you love tummy time. Evil baby! I try to tell you how good it is for you, but you wont listen.

Cute little wiggly feet

That's right 5 different pacifiers and you wont take any of them for more than a few seconds. The only one you will take a little bit is the second to last one.

You've lost almost all of your long red hair (still have the mullet) replaced by short blonde almost clear hair.

People say you look like me when you make your fussy face.
I don't know how I feel about that... since when have I ever made this face?

You have 2 dimples on your left cheek from Grandma Shelley

Your favorite toy... your bug friend. It's from your swing. For some reason you really love this toy. You talk to him, smile at him and get really excited and wiggle at him. It's so cute!

Your blankie friend. You have jammies that match him but they are still a little too big.

Marcel your monkey friend. You like to grab him and bring him to your mouth and suck on his ears.

You are so beautiful and peaceful when you sleep

The sweetest little hands. I know that you will do great things with these little hands.

Your first car.

Born with a silver spoon on your mouth (yeah right). These are a beautiful gift from your great grandparents on the Whitlock side.

Then and Now so far

Everyday I think to my self "Jacob is never going to be as little as he is today. Tomorrow he will be bigger even though it's a very small change, he will have changed." This thought helps me to cherish every moment with my sweet little BIG baby. We love him so much. So much! More than I ever thought I could love something. I always dreamed and wanted to be a mother and I always thought about how it would feel to be a mom and the way I feel is so much more love and happiness than I ever thought possible. And I am so grateful that I feel that way because, as sad as it is, some people think that they will like being parents and then it turns out that they don't so much. I honestly worried about that while I was pregnant. I worry too much anyway. But now I know that this is the greatest thing I could have ever done. For me this is everything in the whole world I ever want to do.
